The Avocent AMX analog matrix switching solution delivers smarter access and simpler manageability for "real world" IT environments. The AMX supports consolidated control of multi-user, multi-rack server environments. This solution provides end-to-end CAT 5 connectivity for access from the server to the desk and features full-system management with an advanced Java-based administration tool, optimal video resolution as well as a patented OSCAR on-screen interface.

The AMX solution includes the AMX5000, AMX5010 and AMX5020 analog matrix switches, the AMIQ enhanced CAT 5 server interface module, the AMX5110, AMX5120 and AMX5130 user stations and the AMWorks® Java-based system administration tool.

AMX 5000 Matrix Switch
Built on Avocent’s field-proven matrix switching design, the AMX5000 is an 8x32 switch that provides a powerful KVM solution with advanced manageability for “real world” IT environments. The AMX5000’s highly scalable architecture easily accommodates additional servers and users, which makes the AMX5000 particularly effective in evolving server installations. This matrix switch allows access from a single point or simultaneous access for multiple users throughout the data center. The AMX5000 also supports multi-platform server environments and provides full non-blocked access to servers.
The AMX5000 includes the advanced AMWorks Java-based system administration tool to help network administrators efficiently manage their IT environment.

AMX 5010 Matrix Switch
The AMX5010 is a 16x64 analog matrix switching solution that provides unmatched advancements in increased user access and efficient scalability
The powerful solution increases the number of users with simultaneous access and its highly scalability architecture makes it easy to add and support more servers. Users gain the added benefit of field-proven technology with the AMX5010. The AMX5010 supports all major server platforms.
Avocent’s advanced AMWorks software is also included with each AMX5010 switch for central administration.

AMX 5020 Matrix Switch
The Avocent® AMX™5020 KVM switch is an 4x42 appliance with a field-proven scalable architecture that easily accommodates additional servers and users. The AMX5020 matrix switch allows simultaneous access, supports multi-platform server environments and provides non-blocked access to servers.
The AMX5020 switch includes the AMWorks® Java-based system management tool.

NEW AMX 5130 User Station
The Avocent AMX5130 desktop user station provides access from the desk to one matrix switch and one local computer. AMX5130 connects to the user’s multi-platform KVM peripherals and sends the KVM signals over an industry standard UTP cable to the Avocent AMX matrix switch. This user station features support for stereo speakers, mono microphones, and USB ports. The Avocent exclusive AutoTuning technology automatically compensates for cable types and lengths, and adjusts for signal losses each time a switch is made to a server.

AMX 5110 User Station
The Avocent AMX5110, the new user station in the AMX analog switching solution, adds an additional RJ45 port to connect a local computer using an AMIQ server interface module. The AMX5110 user station connects to the user’s multi-platform peripherals and sends the KVM signals over an industry standard CAT 5 cable to the AMX matrix switch. The AMX5110 user station’s design automatically compensates for varying cable types and lengths and adjusts for signal losses each time a switch is made to the server.

AMX 5120 User Station
Avocent’s AMX5120 desktop user station doubles as a monitor stand and provides access from the desk to one matrix switch and one local computer. AMX5120 connects to the user’s multi-platform KVM peripherals and sends the KVM signals over an industry standard UTP cable to Avocent’s AMX matrix switch. Avocent's exclusive AutoTuning technology allows the AMX5120 to automatically compensate for varying cable types and lengths, including CAT 5, CAT 5e and CAT 6 and adjust for signal losses each time a switch is made to a server. The AMX5120 user station works with patented OSCAR on-screen interface. OSCAR uses multi-lingual, intuitive menus for CLICK AND CONNECT™ system configuration and server selection.

AMWorks Adminitrative Software
For centralized administration of the AMX, an AMWorks license is included with each AMX switch. The AMWorks Java-based system administration tool supports customized user profiles and multi-level security and allows system administrators to build a user database with assigned access and password protection for each server. Administrators can view all activities that take place on the KVM system, including user login, switches made to servers and changes made to the system connections or setup. The database is centrally stored and can be downloaded to the AMX matrix switch via the network connection port available on all AMX units.

AMIQ Server Interface Module
Avocent’s AMIQ enhanced CAT 5 server interface module provides end-to-end CAT 5 connectivity and delivers real-time, high bandwidth video for KVM switching up to 1,000 feet away from the server. The AMIQ features built-in memory and security capabilities. The advanced cabling solution assigns and stores unique identifier codes for each attached server, which prevents unauthorized configuration and access by manipulating CAT 5 cabling. This CAT 5 cabling intelligence provides key benefits for server environments where reconfiguration and modifications are common. The AMIQ’s Keep Alive safeguard allows attached servers to continue network functions in the event of power failure to the switch.
